Our Reading Program for Kids
At Reading for Results, we deliver reading help with our reading programs for kids. Our Reading programs for kids are research-based and accredited systems of learning.
We provide students with the resources necessary for testing and educating. Our reading programs are individualized to cater to the needs of each student independently.
Furthermore, we practice the Barton Reading and Spelling System at Reading with Results. This system, in conjunction with the Orton-Gillingham method, is research driven and scientifically backed.
These methods incorporate:
- Multi-sensory techniques including touching, seeing, and hearing
- Instruction methods to expose students to situations through multiple techniques, paving the way towards mastery
- One-on-one instruction which allows the student to progress at their own pace
- Logic to learning – if a student can connect login to learning, then they are more likely to remember the concept
Importantly, our methods are designed to provide reading help in a way that is applicable to all students of various levels.
These are widely used and tested systems of reading development and are used worldwide.

Our Founder, Our Story
Meet Debbie Service
“Observing my younger brother’s inability to spell his name as a fourth grader, my journey to discover a remedy for his struggle began!”
Witnessing a frustrated sibling with superior intelligence unable to read, write or spell inspired me to help him and others. One vivid memory is of my father laboring to teach my brother how to spell his name, as he repeated L-a-w-r-e-n-c-e, over and over again.
Misunderstanding, followed by exasperation, often ended with tears, sometimes for both Lawrence and for my father! Forty-five years ago programs to assist students with learning challenges were nonexistent in the public school system. For Lawrence, the solution was to attend a “special school”.
However, even with a “special curriculum”, the program failed to teach him to read. Watching my brother battle one taxing situation after another strengthened my determination to not only help him, but also to help others. After I completed my undergraduate degree at Drexel University,
I earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Penn State University. For several years I worked as a teacher in the special education department within the public school system.

Applying the Orton-Gillingham Method Through a Reading Interventionalist
Every reading interventionist at Reading with Results studies and researches the absolute best methods of fostering reading and writing development. That is why we use the scientifically proven Orton-Gillingham Method.
The Orton-Gillingham Method was designed in the 1930’s by Anna Gillingham and Dr. Samuel Orton. The method uses a multi-faceted, full-sensory approach to rewire and strengthen the student’s brain.
Additionally, Dr. Orton and Dr. Gillingham closely observed different parts of the brain during education. They found that stimulating specific areas helps the student make the necessary connection needed for reading and writing. This method is widely adopted by reading tutors everywhere and yields great results.
Hence, our reading tutors at Reading with Results use the Orton-Gillingham method of reading development. This is paired with the Barton program to achieve maximum results. Insuring your child’s success is our mission at Reading with Results.

Using the Barton Reading and Spelling Program
Reading tutors utilize various methods to promote reading and writing development. While there are many programs out there, we prefer to use a program backed by science and considered to be the most effective.
The Barton program was developed by Susan Barton, an internationally recognized expert in dyslexia. Hence, the Barton Reading and Spelling Program is used all across the United States and internationally. This program has been researched and implemented in a variety of educational settings.
The 10 Levels of the Barton System are as follows:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Consonants and Short Vowels
- Closed and Unit Syllables
- Multi-Syllable Words and Vowel Teams
- Prefixes and Suffixes
- Six Reasons for Silent “E”
- Vowel R’s
- Advanced Vowel Teams
- Influence of Foreign Language
- Latin Roots and Greek Combining Form
Furthermore, our reading tutors consistently check for student mastery of the skills before moving on. This Allows our students to move on in the program with confidence and success. The ultimate goal for our reading tutors, while working with our students, is to increase competency in reading and spelling.
